A Message From Us: COVID-19

Turning up to "the office" looks different for all of us during these "unprecedented and uncertain times". Currently, I too am sitting at my "workstation" in my unit in Brunswick, cat purring away on lap and coffee steaming.
As a business owner - and one of the three founders of Monster & Bear - I keep the ABC running in the background a lot of the time, trying to keep myself educated and up to speed with what this all means for our business, and our industry. I listen to as many live updates from government and health organisations on social media, and try to keep in touch with fellow industry workers around what we can and can't do, and this seems to change daily.
Nonetheless, while things remain turbulent globally and economically, I'm thankful to be able to say that we are adapting and doing well so far. Over the years, we've set up a lot of systems that have made the switch to working remotely a lot easier. We still do regular "face-to-face" meetings, and use streamlined project management and edit review tools which translate well to remote environments. Using flexible tech and intuitive platforms has really helped us stay at the top of our game.
Even though the nature of the jobs we are quoting on has dramatically changed, we are finding there is definitely still a need for video content and clear, well-made messaging. Enough of a need that we are successfully weathering this storm and continuing to create content with our full roster of staff. Because of the end-to-end nature of our company, we have always been nimble and adaptable - and I guess it's that flexibility and agility that has given us the ability to keep going during this time.
I'm thankful to be able to say that we are adapting and doing well so far. Over the years, we've set up a lot of systems that have made the switch to working remotely a lot easier. Using flexible tech and intuitive platforms has really helped us stay at the top of our game.
So, I'm here to exclaim it, loud and proud: CONTENT CREATION IS NOT DEAD! It just looks a little different to usual. Here are just some of the things we've been working on to keep businesses communicating through content at this time.
1. Our postproduction team has certainly been busy, as our requests for animated content soars. Eye-grabbing and engaging motion graphics, infographics, or illustrations are an easy way to get branded messages out there while everyone isolates. We can easily execute these from our respective quarters.
2. For cancelled events or those who still want to put faces or presentations - yes, we do live streaming. In fact, we can do HIGH-QUALITY, multi-camera, vision-switched live streaming with ultra lean crews in a manner that can be executed safely and within regulations. And:
3. We are continuing to work hard and offer high-quality, high-concept film work shot by very small and nimble crews. You don't need to have the answers, just the hint of an idea and we are here to to present creative treatments and work-arounds that can be executed safely (and often, independently, without the need for any site visits if client or agency are working remotely).
Yes, times are "uncertain and unprecedented" (if we all hear those words one. more. time...), and we can't wait to be shooting in a world where we can also hug you all, but for now we still remain hopeful...
Hopeful that brands will see this as an opportunity to create uplifting and connecting content when people need it most.
Hopeful that the focus of content remains on connection and engagement and big ideas and changing the world.
Hopeful that people want to keep working with us because they can see that we care about those things too.
As I sit here in my home office, in the breeze from my open front door, I feel as though there is an overwhelming sense that - although we're all placed in an unthinkable situation, it is a situation that can be harnessed to do better. To be better. To keep creating.
